Wow, I havent been here for a long time! and glancing through, the latest post I saw was for december, so doesnt look like anybodys been around much! Hope people are reading, even if they're not posting. I am after many years away, getting back on the lowcarb wagon. it was the easiest, workedfast, and kept the wieght off longest. But I have a couple questions I am hoping someone can answer-does anyone know a brand of mayo, that isnt made with soybean oil, but is made with canola or other oil? and are there any sweeteners that do not do damage either in the long run or the short term? Ive read so many bad things about so many sweeteners, and am afraid to use them. But I cannot do no sweetener at all in tea or coffee. yuk! any help will be appreciated! Thanks!

Hellman's makes a mayo that is olive oil based. That's what I use.

Splenda is a very safe sweetener and is approved for even pregnant women. I use it sometimes but too much can bother my stomach with the gluten intolerance. I also use Stevia which is made from a plant grown in S. America. The granular type also bothers me but I like the liquid which has no taste and works well in tea and coffee. For baking I use Erythritol which doesn't hurt my tummy. It is a sugar alcohol derived from corn and naturally found in many fruits and mushrooms. Often I will mix Splenda, Stevia and Erythritol together for baking.
