I am happy
Since last August 15th (13 months ago) I have slowly lost 41 pounds. Hopefully I will keep it up, see no reason not to. I have increased my carbs and try to keep my calories at or under 1400. That seems to work.
Every day I put in 20 minutes on the recumbent bike. That wears me out as I get so tired still from the surgery. I make myself do that though and also the other exercises as I feel up to them. I put Netflix on the computer and watch Undercover Boss or Meercat Manor (love that one, but it's now finished), am on to a BBC nature show right now. It's amazing how that helps to put in the time. _________________

Good for you, Gigi! Are you doing Atkins? _________________

Marylin, I am doing "kind of" Atkins, but not really. After all this time on low carb I know pretty much what is healthy for me, am eating more fruit now and watching calories as well as carbs. The new Atkins is pretty good actually.
What helps me is tracking my food intake every day on Fatsecret. That way I know how many net carbs I had and how many calories as well as fiber, cholesterol, fat etc. Their data base is immense. If it's not in their data, one can put it in from the nutrition info and add it to their data base. This makes tracking fast and super easy. I also track my weight, journal and keep up with others, buddies, who are loosing weight. I like the fact that I have many options, this site, where I got my first start and found wonderful people to help me along, now Facebook, where we can also stay in touch, Fatsecret, a site that has everything now to assist people in any kind of "diet" they wish to be on. Recipes, restaurant nutritional info and of course a huge food data base, plus a buddy system. Rogue is one of my buddies, known as ShyGuy over there. _________________

Thank you, Gigi! My problem is always figuring out how much of everything is in that leftover casserole that dh and I ate some of the night before. . . . _________________

When I eat something like that, that I find too much trouble to list the ingredients seperately, I skip that entry. I can pretty much go by what I entered the rest of the day. Mentally I kind of know what the day was like.
You can put recipes in, but you need to list the nutritional values in the ingredients. If you make it pretty much the same, once it's in, you have it. Then you just click and put in the number of servings. _________________

Congratulations Gigi. I really have to get my act together and get this weight off. I feel miserable and can't do the things I would like. I know that when I go back to my old doctor in November, he is going to chew my butt out. _________________
