After having a wonderful lunch with Dan's mom, she called and told us that her blood tests came back and she has leukemia. I was worried about that ever since we knew she was having issues with her blood count. There is evidently not going to be any treatment, probably because of her age. She is 89. Dan's brother didn't even bother to call him. His mom called. Shocked

That is so sad. I hope she doesn't suffer. I can't believe Dan's brother didn't let him know.

Oh, Sandy. Your list just keeps growing, doesn't it? I hope that, because of her age, the leukemia will move more slowly. I think she's definitely making the right choice to not treat it. I hope they'll be sure she's comfortable.

We saw her today and she is good spirits in spite of the news. She said that she could live another 4 years or so. She will have to have monthly blood transfusions and she can't do a lot of walking.
