Bob Atkins waxes eloquent about all the luxurious meats one can have on his program. That was the good old days. Thanks to the low fat freaks, there's nothing good to eat out there any more. Pork chops taste like so much cardboard. Beef isn't much better. And now they've managed to breed chickens so the "dark meat" -- the leg meat, is just as white and dry as the breast. I'm getting sooooo tired of cooking nice recipes and having them taste like nothing. And to add insult to injury, everything from any of the grocery stores in town reeks of perfumed bug spray -- has for years -- and when I ask about it they plead ignorance. Dh brought home a couple of delicious apples today and I'm going to have to do some serious scrubbing then peeling. They stink to high heaven of that stuff. Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

I just ordered a bunch of chicken and turkey (and one small duck) from a kosher online store. Maybe it will be better. It's to be shipped frozen, packed in dry ice. I've ordered meats -- beef and lamb -- that way before and been 100% satisfied, so I'm looking forward to this one.

I have complained about pork for years. No taste. They bred the taste right out of them. Sad
