Sausage Stuffed Mushrooms
Status: Approved
NameSausage Stuffed Mushrooms
CategoryAppetizer
DifficultyEasy
Ingredients
This recipe is great to use as an appetizer or as a small meal.
2 pkgs medium sized mushrooms
1 pkg sausages (usually comes in pkgs of 4 or 5)
flavourings such as garlic, hot pepper sauce and worcestershire sauce can be used to season. I prefer to use extra hot sausages so I don't need many other spices.
grated cheddar cheese (medium or old works best)

Directions
Step: 1Clean mushrooms and remove the stems leaving the head empty.

Cut open the sausages and remove the meat from the inside.

Begin heating a frying pan (cast iron is best so you can use a metal spatula). Do not add any oil.

Chop the sausage meat and add to the pan. Use your spatula to continue to separate the sausage meat so it begins to look like ground beef.

Grate cheddar cheese to the desiered amount.

Preheat oven to about 350 - 400 degrees.

When the meat is almost finished cooking add the cheese and cover until sausage meat is cooked and cheese is melted.

Remove from heat, drain some of the fat and let cool for a couple of minutes.

Stuff the heads of the mushrooms with the sausage and cheese mixture and place on a lightly sprayed baking sheet.

Bake for about 15 - 20 minutes, the mushrooms look slightly brown and soft. Top of meat mixture should be slightly crunchy.
Nutrition Information
I don't know how many carbohydrates these contain but the ingredients alone do not contain a lot.
