This is a delicious and chocolatey high-fiber, low-carb hot cereal recope I
developed by "reverse engineering" a commercial Cocoa-Flax hot cereal I liked
that was discontinued. I buy the ingredients in bulk and prepare a supply of
dry mix every few weeks. One thing I liked about the store-bought hot cereal
was that it would set like a brownie when microwaved, and this recipe is
identical in that respect. As a bonus, it is much cheaper to prepare in bulk than
it was to buy the prepared mix. The initial investment for ingredients is a little
high, but they will last a long time and produce many batches of cereal.
2 cups ground flax
1 1/2 cups wheat bran
1 cup soy protein powder (available in bulk at many alternative grocery stores)
1/2 cup whey protein isolate powder
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1 dash of salt

Step: 1Dump ingredients into a plastic container and shake until blended. Store until needed.

To prepare cereal, combine 1/3 cup dry mix and 1/3 cup water in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave on high for 1 minute. Add Splenda and cream as desired.

Makes 16.5 1/3 cup servings.
